Chicago Girls Rock (CGR) is dedicated to showcasing upcoming and established female rockers on the Chicago music scene. Today, CGR continues its mission to create awareness and exposure opportunities for these artists by signing Ambre Lake of VH1’s “Rock Of Love 2 w/ Bret Michaels” to host Dame-Nation, an (8 hour) concert event being held on Saturday, February 20th, 2010 at the historic Portage theater located at the famous (6 corners) here in Chicago, IL.

“We feel Ambre Lake is a perfect choice to host the Dame-Nation concert” says Eric Sanchez, a spokesman for Chicago Girls Rock. He continues “Ambre Lake is a native Chicagoan. She’s a strong, confident and talented woman who jumped at the opportunity to be here and support our event. We feel lucky to have gained such a fantastic host, who has expressed to us a very real and sincere desire to help.”

The “Dame-Nation” concert hosted by Ambre Lake will open with a performance from drum prodigy Hannah Ford. This rock and roll assault will be followed by musical performances from Chicago’s own Whiskey Blonde, High Gloss Black, Sage 4, F.H.O.D., Losing Scarlet and Deadmanswake. There will even be a special “extra” performance from Chicago’s own Pain-kurst Girls; a visually stunning performance troupe.

Spokesman Eric Sanchez also added, “Even though Ambre Lake has been working on many film and television projects she has still made herself available to perform and promote locally before the event. To think that Ambre could be taking a vacation, but has instead chosen to get so involved really shows that with all her success and fame she is still very much in touch with her roots here in Chicago”.

Big Brother 10 Alum: “I’m an Adult Film Model”

January 28, 2010 by Chris
Filed under Big Brother 10, Reality TV, Star Updates

After a while reality show seasons start to run together, and unless you’re a fan of a particular person you tend to forget who’s from what season, and why you cared about them to begin with. Now I’m not saying Steven Daigle, the gay rodeo champion from “Big Brother 10” was forgettable but, he’s made sure that he wouldn’t sink into the “pits of the forgotten house guests” that usually befalls anyone evicted in the first four weeks of CBS‘ voyeuristic summer phenomenon. How did he do that, you ask? Well, he’s gone the route of gay porn star. Sure he doesn’t call himself  a porn star; he’s chosen to call himself an “Adult Film Model,” but it’s a tomato/ tomahto situation, though one title is clearly classier.

Much thanks to TMZ.com for the video.

Celebrity Apprentice Cast Announced

January 13, 2010 by Faith Whitfield
Filed under Celebrity Apprentice, Reality TV

NBC and Donald Trump announced  the all-star celebrity cast for the third season of “The Celebrity Apprentice” premiering on Sunday, March 14 (9-11 p.m. ET/PT).

Fourteen new celebrities will rise to the challenge once again it will be men versus women. All the celebrities will be vying for the coveted title as they fight for their respective causes close to their hearts.

The men include: Darryl Strawberry, Bret Michaels, Goldberg, Michael Johnson, Rod Blagojevich, Sinbad and Curtis Stone. The women include: Cyndi Lauper, Sharon Osbourne, Holly Robinson Peete, Selita Ebanks, Maria Kanellis, Carol Leifer and Summer Sanders.

Donald Trump said “This season of ‘Celebrity Apprentice’ is going to be fantastic. The list of celebrities we have this season is outstanding and the show will really resonate with our core viewers and fans. I expect this season of ‘Celebrity Apprentice’ to be the best one yet.”

The celebrities will compete in business-driven tasks around New York City using their fame, rolodexes and their business acumen to win weekly tasks and money to donate to their favorite charities, while ultimately battling with each other to stay out of the boardroom and avoid hearing those dreaded words “You’re Fired!”

They’ll be subjected to long hours, grueling mental challenges, personality clashes and intense scrutiny — all without the help of their regular support system of agents, managers and personal assistants. Certain tasks encourage the contestants to reach out to their network of celebrity contacts for assistance or donations — making for entertaining surprise visits by some of the world’s biggest stars along the way.

Trump and his advisors in the boardroom will judge all of the tasks. Returning back to the boardroom are Trump’s children (and colleagues) Ivanka and Donald Trump Jr., alongside longtime Trump Organization employee and “Apprentice” advisor George Ross. The boardroom will again feature a “rotating seat,” allowing a variety of famous business leaders and industry legends to join Trump in spirited judgment on each task. As with last season, the winning celebrity teams will relish the opportunity to watch the losing team squirm in the boardroom from the comfort of their own war rooms. When all is said and done, 13 celebrities will be famously fired and only one will emerge to become The Celebrity Apprentice.

Let’s Talk About Pep Premieres Tonight on VH1

January 11, 2010 by Faith Whitfield

VH1 steps away from their over-done celebrity dating reality shows to do a show starring Sandy Denton. What kind of show? Well, VH1 calls it a “real life comedy”, where she will look for love.

After being burned by bad boys one too many times, Pep decided to get out of the game for a while. She thought maybe clearing her head and going celibate would cause “The One” to magically appear. Guess what? It didn’t! Now Pep is joining forces with three of her closest girlfriends — all single and searching, too — to try the dating scene again. Together the four friends will laugh, cry and dish lots of dirt as they all try to find true love.

VH1’s new original series, “Let’s Talk About Pep” is set to premiere Monday, January 11th at 10:30PM ET/PT. We’ll get to know Pepa’s partners in crime: TV personality and journalist Jacque Reid, who’s entertaining the notion of trying motherhood alone until Mr. Right comes along; Joumana Kidd, former model and sports journalist, now returning to the dating scene after her highly-publicized divorce from basketball superstar Jason Kidd; and the wild child of the bunch, voiceover artist and radio personality Kali Troy (a.k.a. “Kittie”), on the hunt for a man who’s man enough to keep up with her.

While potential suitors range in age and occupation, the ladies are at a similar place in their lives: All have achieved success in their professional ventures but lack that partner to share it with. Of course they each have very different strategies for finding the perfect guy. But “Let’s Talk About Pep” isn’t just about the dating game — it’s about the ties that bind these girlfriends together. No matter how they fare in sex and romance, they’ve always got each other.

Watch their stories unfold when “Let’s Talk About Pep” premieres Monday, January 11th, 2010 at 10:30 PM ET/PT on VH1.

Couples across America are needed for “The Marriage Ref,” NBC’s upcoming funny and revealing comedy panel series from executive producer Jerry Seinfeld about the unpredictable institution commonly known as marriage. The producers are conducting a nationwide search to find high-spirited couples who are finally ready to open up and resolve their long-standing arguments – whatever they may be. Whether a couple is arguing about fashion, money, in-laws, weight, neatness, jealousy, past history, friends, sex or any offbeat topic in dispute, the series’ casting team wants to hear from them. Outgoing, charismatic and opinionated couples, which can include newlyweds, are encouraged to apply — especially those who have a beef with their partner that is in need of a “marriage ref” to ultimately decide for once and for all who is right and who is wrong. From bad wardrobe choices to unpleasant habits and everything in between — no problem is too small or quirky for “The Marriage Ref.”

In “The Marriage Ref,” Seinfeld’s new primetime venture, disputes between real-life couples are revealed, examined — and ultimately judged. For the first time, audiences will be able to look at these fights, analyze them and declare a winner.

These marital tiffs will run the gamut of disagreements — quirky, funny, relatable — all with the signature Seinfeld tone.

At the center of the action and making “the call,” is “the marriage ref” who will have the final say in determining the victor of each spat. Advising and influencing the Ref’s decision will be a rotating panel of “experts” comprised of top celebrities, comedians and sports stars who will weigh in and offer their own wit, wisdom and unique opinions.
