Real World’s Kevin Powell is Running for Congress

Kevin Powell, castmate of the original Real World New York is running for congress in the 10th District in Brooklyn, NY.

Powell, a native of Jersey City, New Jersey has spent his time since Real World building a reputaion as a writer, poet, activist, and hip hop historian. Given his reasons for running, on his website, Kevin says:

“My life-calling is to be a servant for the people, period. Money, fame, status, personal achievements, and all that means very little to me when pain and suffering are still real on this planet. I am interested in the powerless becoming powerful.”

Powell also ran for Congress in 2006, but withdrew from the race when his own writings were used against him as an attack on his character. To find out about Kevin’s current run for a seat in Congress, visit his campaign website.
