Let’s just catch up on all the American Idol stuff in one post, shall we:
- Now that he’s off the show Robbie Carrico has defended his wig, I mean, “hair”, and swears up and down that he’s a real rocker. Good thing he wasted no time in defending himself, because in a week and a half no one is going to care about him one way or another, let alone what’s keeping his head warm. Jason Hughes at TVSquad.com does a really good job picking Robbie’s claims apart.
- There’s a scandalous one in every bunch: Glendale, Arizona’s David Hernandez used to strip at gay bars to pay the bills. However, according to one of the establishments, Dick’s Caberet, they just had mostly male clientèle, and David sometimes performed nude lap dances for them. And just for the record; I completely believe that a guy named Dick actually owns the caberet (the fact that the phone number ends in “4Dick” is a coincidence)…anyway, according to the Associated Press, a person close to the show said that they have no intention of releasing Hernandez because of this recent discovery. Which is a good thing, because he can really sing. And we all have to earn a living.
- On a more squeaky clean note, Idol Gives Back, American Idol’s charity campaign, will be returning on April 9th at 8pm. Stars scheduled to appear on the fund-raising show include, Snoop Dogg, Bono, Brad Pitt, Reese Witherspoon, Miley Cyrus, Mariah Carey, Eli Manning, Peyton Manning, Fergie, Annie Lennox, and John Legend. And also making appearances are past Idols Carrie Underwood, Chris Daughtry, and Kelly Clarkson. The fund raiser, which raised over $76 million, will be hosted by Ellen Degeneres and Ryan Seacrest.
- Blake Lewis from last season’s A.I. will be singing his new release, “How Many Words” on Thursday’s results show.
- Booted contestant Amy Davis has posed for an issue of the men’s magazine, Maxim, in the recent “Hometown Hotties” contest. Click here to check it out.
- Speaking of photos, Amanda Overmeyer has had her mugshot circulating the web recently. According to Showbizspy.com, Amanda spent some time in jail in October of 2006 on a DUI.
- The farewell song that they play during the that they show during the eliminated singer’s montage every week will be performed by past Idol winner Ruben Studdard. It will be available for download on March 12.
- Simon Cowell was offered a ton of money to be the face of Viagra, but he turned it down in embarrassment. When his manager called to tell him that the representatives of the erectile dysfunction medication offered him several million dollars to promote the drug, he thought that it had to be a “f***ing insult.” See Simon, it’s not so pleasant when your performance is called into question, is it?
- And finally, for those of you who are still in the holiday spirit, here is Idol Danny Noriega, wishing you all a less than Merry Christmas:
