Project Runway Episode 5: Brooke Shield Your Eyes
Mary Jones | August 13, 2008…because these outfits are hideous.
Last Week: Korto won the Olympic-inspired challenge, and Jennifer’s “surrealistic” take on Anthropologie was sent home
This week is a team challenge, which is a sure fire way to create drama. The challenge is designing a “power bitch” suit for her to wear on the next season of “Lipstick Jungle.” Blayne chooses Leanne, Keith chooses Kenley, Terri and Suede are a team, Korto chooses Joe, Kelli chooses Daniel, Jerell and Stella.
After the trip to mood, the boys are whining, especially Suede, who doesn’t like the outfit and has concerns. Partner Terri is having none of it, and responds with my single favorite Project Runway confessional of all time: “Suede needs to man up. I ain’t got no babies, there ain’t nobody suckin’ on my titties.” Daniel has a wounded boy look when Kelli asks him to resew the skirt he butchered. It’s like a delightful gender stereotype. In reverse.
At the halfway point, the only rough spot was Korto’s dress, which Tim said (quite accurately) looked like a sweet potato. She stormed off after Joe criticized the design, which was the first time I got to see homegirl’s mad, mad, mad booty. I was insanely jealous. Time for the runway.
1. Korto and Joe-nude tube dress, orange over jacket
2. Kelli and Daniel—black suit with tourquoise and leopard accents
3. Jerell and Stella-brocade skirt, yellow leather skirt, silk shirt
4. Keith and Kenley-brown ruffled skirt, floaty floral type
5. Terri and Suede-off the shoulder pasiely shirt, black pants
6. Blayne and Leanne-tight shorts, purple tank, blue shirt
Left on the stage are Blayne and Leanne, Jerell and Stella, Keith and Kenley. Obviously Jerell and Stella are going to win it, as they’re outfit looks he most professional. Kelli and Daniel got attacked for making their outfit cheap, and Blayne’s outfit was criticized for being too casual. For the third week in a row, the wrong person one, as Keith’s ugly floral outfit won over Jerell’s inspired outfit. In a decision which left me utterly angered and speechless, Kelli went home and Blayne–effing BLAYNE stayed. I’m so over this show this season. Every decision is made for ratings and not for talent. I’m moving on to Project Runway Canada.
