Martin Richie a model from Austin, Texas will be a contestant on the Oxygen reality show, The Janice Dickinson Modeling Agency. Richie, who is openly gay and deaf, can be seen when the show’s season debuts August 26th.

I appreciate the posting of the information of Martin, a new contestant on the Janice Dickinson show. However, the phrasing “openly gay and deaf” is offensive. How can one be “openly” deaf? As a member of the deaf community, I hope you will think before you type next time.
