The Dusseau family from Colorado is in it to win it. Traditional wife Crystal (28) and dad Tim (29) believe they are incapable of making ugly children. They are proud that Kaylee (13 months) has a perfectly symmetrical face and, true to the family’s philosophy, she’s already a winner with 12 pageant trophies and 2 crowns. Son Kyle (7) retired from the pageant world with 54 trophies at the ripe old age of 6 and now competes in wrestling, despite his wishes to just be a kid. Giving your all is the only option in the Dusseau home. Crystal even tries to be the ultimate housewifeshe wears high-heeled boots to clean the house and husband Tim has only seen her without make-up once. Tim is proud of his hot wife and believes his job is to provide for his family, while his wife takes care of the home.

Meanwhile in Washington, the free-spirited Smith-Snider family focus on what’s on the inside. Esther (32) doesn’t bother with make-up or fixing her hair She’s too busy saving lives in the ER as a highly trained doctor working 100 hours a week. She spends little time with her family because, when she’s not working, she lets off steam at the roller rink as the Esterminator,’ knocking over other roller girls dressed in fishnets and punk gear. While Esther is away, Eric (34) stays at home and keeps the house. He “unschools” his daughters, Willow (9) and Rowan (6), giving them the freedom to choose what they want to learn and how they want to learn it. Esther and Eric would rather their girls enjoy life than worry about formal education and social skills. Eric spends so much time with his girls, he’s lost touch with his friends, his career as a potter and his own social life.

In the first week, Crystal has to go to a roller derby after working all day at a doctor’s office. She find’s it hard to accept that Eric stays at home alone with the girls while Esther pursues her career, her hobby and her own social life. Meanwhile at the Dusseaus’, Esther is appalled by the number of trophies and tiaras in the children’s rooms and, after Kaylee loses a pageant for the first time in her successful career, Esther compares pageants to dog shows. She finds Tim’s views on women unacceptable and says that wife Crystal is just another trophy to him.

In the second week of the swap when the wives change the rules and turn the tables, in the Dusseau home Esther takes away the trophies and tries to teach the family that life isn’t always about winning. And Tim gets to find out how it feels to clean a house in high heel boots. In Washington, Crystal turns Willow and Rowan into pageant princesses to boost their self-esteem. And Eric becomes one of the boys on the football field, as he tries picking on people his own size. At the end of two weeks, can Esther convince Tim that girls can have brains as well as looks? And can Crystal show Eric that his wife is leaving him behind?

I had to stop the show and watch it in pieces becuase I was cringing so much at Crystal and Tim — She doesn’t use peroxide? I know lots of people and not of them died from skin cancer? What a disurbing, disturbing family — those poor children…

OK, you have to hand it to the producers – they always find opposites. Boring story plot – it’s getting old. What’s curious about this episode is that it’s impossible to know what Tim Dusseau does for a living? Let’s see, prehistoric male, a pickup truck and need for trophy wife? Humm… Glad that the little kids are going to have a little bit more normal parents after this show. It’s amazing what a team of 5 psychologists can do in 200 hours of contact. And people… don’t be brutal on these people – they might be reading these posts and not everyone can go on national TV and expose themselves like this. I’m sure they all have enough intelligence to see the shows and improve themselves. Peace.

It’s so sad that Crystal had to put her poor son thru this crap. Tim is not Kyles father. She was married before and I’m pretty sure Kyles father James isn’t aware of what is going. This girl is as fake as they come. We all have skeletons in our closet but this girl forgot where she came from. For Tim to say that the reason why he married her is because she was hot…how sad is that. Hmm..he married her because she got pregnant with her daughter. Crystal needs a reality check…honey you are not a trophy wife.

Linda, I couldn’t agree with you more. The Dusseau family is not an attractive one thanks to the attitudes of the parents. The husband’s comments were unbelievably ignorant and just hilighted his extreme insecurity. He’s plain, with a face full of moles and feels entitled to a trophy wife and two trophy kids. Crystal has a decent face but her skin is bad because she never washes the makeup off, as she admitted on the show….”I sleep in my makeup.” And her husband was proud to announce to the world that if we ever saw her without makeup we would know why she needs to keep it on 24/7. I guess he thinks it makes him more attractive to denigrate his wife on national tv. He is the epitome of disgusting. And yes, Tim, you’re wife bleaches the crap out of that hair and isn’t fooling anyone but you. You’re just sad.

Hopefully, the Dusseau family will take a good look at themselves on the show and get some counseling. They sorely need it. I could easily see their son turning to drugs to cope and the daughter growing up with a serious eating disorder from the “parenting” they receive. Very sad. I hope they get help.

What shallow people. You are not an attractive family, mostly from your attitudes. Tim, the moles on you face are not attractive. Crystal, you definately need Pro Active for the acne. And you are bleached, need to tell your husband the truth. The baby is not a pretty baby, as she is very average. You are in the process on rearing a gay boy if you don’t change. And teaching them to be #1 is ridiculous because no one will ever be #1 for everything. Maybe you need to learn some class. Obviously you are wannabes. I would never let you keep my children but definitely would let the Dr. whom is very intelligent. By the way, do you know about Christian values? I’m not a holyroller by any means but I am a milionaire who is MYSELF.We are all equal. You have a lot to learn. What about your debt? It has to be tremendous with the junk you buy. I hope you learn something valuable through this. You need a reality check and help
