The Biggest Loser Resort at Fitness Ridge will offer guests a comprehensive weight-loss experience that focuses on exercise, healthy nutrition and education, similar to what the contestants on NBC’s hit weight loss series “The Biggest Loser” experience during their time on the Biggest Loser Ranch.
Guests at The Biggest Loser Resort at Fitness Ridge are offered a minimum one-week weight loss program, but they are welcome to stay as many weeks as they wish. The average day consists of at least six hours of physical exercise, which includes a wide variety of aerobic alternatives from hiking in the majestic Snow Canyon State Park, to swimming, to kickboxing, to mat pilates. There is an emphasis on exercise and movement, but the weight-loss resort is also focused on helping people change their lives through education. The fitness program and education series are designed to prepare guests to begin a new, healthier way of living when they leave the resort and the goal is to allow guests to experience the same sort of structured and nurturing environment as the contestants on “The Biggest Loser.”
“Becoming the exclusive resort for NBC’s hit reality series is a natural fit,” said Renee Jarvis, Marketing Director for The Biggest Loser Resort at Fitness Ridge. “Our philosophies are the same in that we offer a unique weight-loss opportunity in a calorie controlled and structured environment with motivation from professional fitness experts.”
The Biggest Loser Resort at Fitness Ridge offers a comprehensive health and fitness experience for its guests. In part one of this week’s two-part challenge, contestants divide the amount of weight they’ve lost so far among their opponents, with many ganging up on the player they feel is the strongest competitor. For part two of the challenge, the players head to the racetrack where they’ll meet NASCAR driver Clint Bowyer. Then each contestant will pull a two-ton car – plus the weight added on from part one of the challenge — for almost a quarter of a mile! Also, the competition goes to singles this week and contestants are given their original colored shirts to wear for the rest of the competition. And later, one contestant breaks “Biggest Loser” records at a weigh in that finds several players hitting big milestones. Alison Sweeney is the host, and trainers Bob Harper and Jillian Michaels also star.
The Biggest Loser airs Tuesdays from 8:00 PM-10:00 PM EST on NBC.

“The Biggest Loser: Couples” get a special workout with boxing champ Sugar Ray Leonard and a valuable cooking lesson from celebrity chef Rocco DiSpirito tonight.
First the contestants meet up with DiSpirito and learn how many calories are really in some of their favorite fast food dishes. Then the black and blue teams have a lively cook-off, preparing healthier, low-calorie versions of pizza, burgers and a Mexican entre. The team who prepares the tastiest and lowest calorie dish gets a meal specially prepared by DiSpirito, plus a chance to pick a fortune cookie with an especially valuable fortune inside – an extra vote at elimination.
Then trainer Bob Harper takes the contestants to a 24-Hour Fitness where a surprise guest awaits them – Sugar Ray Leonard! This is especially thrilling for contestant Aubrey, who was previously an amateur boxer. Leonard shows them how much fun burning calories can be when he puts them through a unique shadow boxing workout.
Later, all the contestants head to the Los Angeles Food Bank, where host Alison Sweeney explains this week’s challenge: they’ll race to pack food kits for the hungry and load them on trucks. Each member of the winning team gets an amazing prize – free groceries for a year, plus letters from home.
Then it’s time for last chance workouts, when trainer Jillian Michaels has a dramatic confrontation with the player she feels is the weakest link on her team. And away from the gym, one contestant gives another a very generous gift. Later, all of the contestants are surprised to learn about a new twist at this week’s weigh-in.

Anthony Badalamenti, who, as a personal trainer, helped overweight contestants lose weight on The Biggest Loser, proved that he was indeed the biggest loser of all when he was arrested on Friday on suspicion of beating his girlfriend’s six year old son with a weightlifting belt.
According to the Nassau County, New York’s police department, neighbors heard the boy calling for help and contacted police. When the police arrived, the lights in the residence suddenly went off and the crying stopped, and no one answered the phone or the door. After knocking the door to the home down , authorities found they young child in his room, “crying, with multiple lacerations, contusions and bruises.” More specifically, the boy had multiple lacerations and bruises on his right hand, right leg, and buttocks. The landlord of the building, Joe Salerno, said that he had heard the child being beaten for more than a month before he decided to finally call the police. He waited so long because he thought, “it was a private matter.”
Badalamenti and the child’s mother, Jessica Muniz, were both arrested on suspicion of second-degree assault, possession of a dangerous weapon and endangering the welfare of a child. The boy is currently staying with relatives.

From NBC:
NBC announced today the eight families – eight teams of two — who will be competing in “The Biggest Loser: Families,” premiering Tuesday, September 16 (8-10 p.m. ET). Alison Sweeney (NBC’s “Days of our Lives”) hosts the popular series, and trainers Bob Harper and Jillian Michaels also star.
It’s all about families in season six of “The Biggest Loser,” which features four husband-and-wife teams and four parent-child duos trying to lose weight through diet and exercise as they compete for a grand prize of $250,000. Harper will train the spouses, while Michaels trains the parents and their adult children.
With the focus on families comes more emotion and drama than ever before, as contestants share their compelling stories, including a mother and daughter who were estranged for over five years before going on the show, newlyweds who want to get healthy so they can have kids, a father with more life-threatening health issues than any contestant in the history of the show, and parents who want to get healthy to be better examples to their kids – including their overweight four-year-old daughter who already outweighs their seven-year-old son.
For the first time in the history of “The Biggest Loser,” contestants will learn they’ve been chosen for the show directly from Harper and Michaels, who fly all over the country to surprise contestants in their hometowns with the exciting news. Then it’s off to “The Biggest Loser” ranch in California, where the contestants get a wake-up call from the show’s doctor about what ages their bodies really are vs. their chronological ages because of obesity. Then the eight teams compete in their first challenge — and the lucky winner gets immunity from the first elimination of the season.
