As you may or may not know President Bush made an appearance on NBC’s Deal or No Deal to support a contestant who served in the Iraq War. Capt. Joseph Kobes, who courageously served three tours of duty in Iraq and was given a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star, had the experience of having President Bush tape a few words of support for him, which aired on the show.
Even though the President’s appearance was promoted beforehand, it did absolutely nothing to boost ratings. And Kobes, ended up going from accepting a $144,000 offer to accepting a $26,000 offer. Fortunately, he was able to leave the show with $78,000 thanks to a spin of the deal wheel.
Why did the ratings bomb for Deal or No Deal with Bush’s appearance? I think Big Brother’s Evel Dick’s analysis on his My Space blog breaks it down in simple terms:
“Since when does The President of The United States of America go on a f******g game show? Bush showed his puss on a highly publicized episode of Deal of No Deal and brought ZERO to the ratings. First off, doesn’t this guy have far better things to do for our country than to go on a f*****g game show? I understand the photo op bullshit, and I enjoy even more that this douche bag that we have to call President couldn’t even bring an additional blip on the ratings radar for the show, but gimme a f*****g break.
HEY BUSH…. DO SOMETHING TO KEEP THIS COUNTRY FROM ECONOMICALLY GOING INTO THE TOILET BEFORE YOU RIDE OFF INTO THE F*****G SUNSET, WOULD YA? YOU ARE THE ONE WHO GOT US HERE. YOU GONNA JUST WATCH AS MILLIONS OF US WATCH THE EQUITY IN OUR HOMES GOES THE WAY OF THE DOE DOE? AS GAS GETS AS HIGH AS IT IS IN EUROPE? ($8.00 A GALLON) WE ALL KNOW YOU WILL GO DOWN IN HISTORY AS THE WORST PRESIDENT IN THE HISTORY OF THIS COUNTRY (JIMMY CARTER ALREADY SAID THAT) BUT ARE YOU OK WTH THAT, BUDDY? YEE HAW AND GO F**K YOURSELF.”
Or maybe everyone was watching the NBA Playoffs…
