“Man vs. Wild” and “Deadliest Catch” Coming to Video Game Consoles

Two popular reality shows on the Discovery Channel will be turned into console video games, thanks to Crave Entertainment.

The survivalist reality show, Man vs. Wild and the fishing reality show, Deadliest Catch are currently in development, and will hit the stores next year.

“The Discovery Channel has captivated millions of viewers by delivering non-stop action and suspense in these unique programs,” stated Betsi Gijanto, Executive Vice President, Crave Entertainment. “Man vs. Wild and Deadliest Catch capture man’s struggle to survive amidst the perils of nature on land and at sea. This rich content is a perfect concept for videogames.”

“Crave Entertainment’s boutique publishing approach coupled with their experience in bringing realistic games to casual gamers everywhere makes them the obvious choice for these brands,” said Sue Perez-Jackson, Director of Licensing for Discovery Channel. “We look forward to working with Crave Entertainment to bring to life the heart-pounding, real-world adventures of Deadliest Catch and Man vs. Wild.”

In Man vs. Wild the show’s star, Bear Grylls will guide the player’s character through certain survival environments. In Deadliest Catch, players will be the captains of their own crab boats, and face the challenges that come with crab fishing for profit on the Bering Sea. Both games are to be available for all gaming systems in Spring 2010.

Pitchmen Star Billy Mays Dead at 50

Billy Mays, the infomercial spokesperson best known for loudly selling Oxy Clean and Orange Glo, was found dead in his home in his home this morning, according to the LA Times.

Mays’ wife Deborah discovered his lifeless body in their Tampa home at 7:45 this morning. Foul play was not suspected, and no cause of death has been reported according to the Tampa Bay Police. An autopsy will be performed tommorow.

Mays was a passenger on a U.S.  Airways flight from Philadelphia to Tampa that suffered a hard landing when a tire blew out. Although some passengers reported bumps and bruises, there were no reported injuries and no one was hospitalized.

Mays starred with Anthony Sullivan in the Discovery reality show, Pitchmen.
