MTV is extending the drama into 2009 with bonus episodes of the hit reality series “Making The Band.” The saga will continue with the remaining members of Danity Kane, their label mates Day26 and Donnie Klang as they all embark on the next phases of their Bad Boy careers.

The Jamie Foxx produced reality show, From G’s to Gents was such a big hit for MTV that they decided to bring it back for another season:

MTV, Cris Abrego from 51 Minds, and executive producer Jamie Foxx for FoxxKing Entertainment head back to the hood for another season of “From G’s to Gents”. Hosted by author, recording artist and arbiter of good taste, Fonzworth Bentley is ready to mentor a whole new group of Gs who all believe they have what it takes to shed their bad boy images and make life altering changes. Mr. Bentley will also be added to the producers’ team next season and says, “With casting already underway, my goal for this season is to really reach deeper into the G culture to find young men who society has discounted or cast aside, and give these men an opportunity to turn their lives around”.

Janet Jackson is holding auditions across the country for her new MTV reality show Triple Threat, and hundreds of people are prepared to risk public ridicule by showing off their moves. Casting hasn’t come to Philly yet, so I don’t have footage of that, but here is a news story from another market:

The great thing about the end of a season of MTV’s The Real World is knowing that a Real World/Road Rules Challenge will soon follow. Taping for The Island will wrap up tomorrow, and one of my favorite MTV reality shows will return with all my favorite people. The Challenges never disappoint.

I have to get something to eat (hopefully a large omelet), but when I get back I will post all I know about The Island. In the meantime, amuse yourselves with this video of the cast:

…Okay this is what I found out: this time around The Challenge is going to be similar to Survivor, and a couple of the cast members actually rented old Survivor videos just to see what it is like and get some tips on playing the game. Cast members were told not to bring any electronic devises, like blow dryers, electric razors and curling irons, because they wouldn’t be able to use them. MTV is actually using the location of Survivor: Panama (specifically, Bocas del Toro Province) for the challenge.

Ashley Dupre may be shopping a reality show, but MTV isn’t interested. At least not yet. According to The New York Daily News, a rep for MTV has said that,  “no meetings were held” with Eliot Spritzer’s favorite hooker to develop a reality tv dating show.

However, Dupre’s lawyer is quoted as saying, “She has prospects for many exciting projects, and is looking forward to starting a new chapter.”

Actually, one of the problems with the general public being interested in a reality show with her, aside from the obvious, is that she is only known by name and a couple of pictures. To my knowledge, she has not been all over the place giving interviews. But if Rodney King can do Celebrity Rehab, there’s no reason she can’t do The Surreal Life, if you know what I mean.

Eliot Spritzer’s high-priced call girl and career killer, Ashley Dupre is shopping a reality show, and is considering taking the next big step by relocating from the city where you have to have talent to get ahead (NYC), to the city where you absolutely don’t (Hollywood).

Word is that she is in talks with Handprint Entertainment, which is the same company that helps Nicole Richie and Pamela Anderson be extremely visible while doing not much of anything. Sources say that they are seriously considering a dating show and are involved with MTV, although MTV declines comment.

Honestly, Tila and Ashley do have a lot in common (aside from their skankatabulous notoriety), as they both claim to want to be “entertainers,” but are actually unaware that all they really want to do is get paid to be noticed.

Janet Jackson is currently developing a competition reality show for MTV. The show, which has yet to be titled, will feature Janet mentoring young singers and dancers, as they compete to be “the next Janet Jackson or Justin Timberlake”, according to David Broome, who is the executive producer.

According to Variety.com, the actual details of the show are still being fleshed out, but casting has begun already.

I am so jealous. Today on Paris Hilton’s My Space blog she wrote about meeting all of the applicants who are competing to be her new bff on her MTV reality show. It sounds so cool and intimate, just like I imagine it would be if I applied to compete to be friends with someone. She was so unselfish that she had the 18 people that she actually chose to be on the show get makeovers from Fred Seagal Beauty, and I know that is not a plug. That is something that real friends do for each other; they get each other makeovers from Fred Seagal Beauty. And only Fred Seagal Beauty. Any other place would be a show of insincerity. Paris loves doing makeovers on her friends. She said so herself. Because that’s what people who have people compete on tv for their friendship do.

Two of my most poignant coming of age memories involve unknowingly trying to party in the wrong place at just so I wouldn’t get carded. The first was when some friends and I were the first patrons to arrive at a very friendly bar on South Street that ended up being a very crowded gay bar by the time we were drunk. The second was when I went out drinking after journalism class in a neighborhood that was all business before 5pm and a hangout for coked up drag queens at night. I’m sure you all have a story like that. No? Whatever.

Anyway, I believe that a good drag queen is a thing of wonder and beauty and a bad drag queen is a just a thing of wonder. And for those of you who feel the same, it should delight you to know that America’s favorite drag queen RuPaul is looking for contestants for her new reality show on Logo, RuPaul’s Drag Race.
