Real Housewives’ Gretchen Rossi dropped as teen pageant host

Gretchen Rossi of The Real Housewives of Orange County was recently dropped as the host of the Miss Newport Beach and Miss Newport Beach Teen pageants after an advertisement for the event lead to a deluge of protest emails and phone calls.

According to The Daily Pilot, which also ran the ad featuring Rossi’s picture, pageant organizer Caren Lacona received 100 emails and phone calls which protested the choice of the reality star as host because of the way she is portrayed on the hit show.  Lacona says that some of the pageant’s previous sponsors have backed out as well, which she also feels is related to her choice of host.

Lacona, who offered the job to Gretchen Rossi after they met at a social event, is currently looking for someone else to emcee the April 24th event, but says that the Rossi she knows is not the person portrayed on television.

“I actually really like her, but she’s coming off on the TV show as something she’s not,” Lancona said. “The TV show has really dragged her through the mud.”

The Linkins Meet the Bonetts on Wife Swap tonight

February 13, 2009 by Faith W
Filed under Reality TV, Wife Swap

The LARPING Linkins from Virginia live in a world of fantasy. As a Live Action Role Player, Mom Grace (53) spends her days dressed up as an elf, gypsy or queen and roams the forest with other fanciful characters from her LARPING group. When she’s not in the woods, she spends 12 hours a day on the computer frolicking in virtual fantasy worlds, while Dad George (57) runs the family cleaning business. Neither Grace nor George see a need to be strict parents, which sons Casey (19) and Randy (12) take full advantage of. With few rules and a mom who would rather create spell packets or fancy costumes, sleeping in or bringing home less than stellar grades is totally acceptable. Randy’s real dream is to become more active and try football, wrestling or martial arts, but his parents have discouraged him from these intense sports in favor of LARPING.

Meanwhile, the success-driven Bonett family from Florida believe the sky is the limit if you have the right attitude. On the advice of a motivational speaker, Dad Warren (43) starts each day jumping on a mini trampoline, which gets his blood pumping and puts him on the road to success with a positive attitude. Mom Prebble (48) covers the mirrors in the house with motivational messages for kids Wyndham (15) and Celia (13) to keep them thinking positive! However attitude is only half of the formulaeducation and hard work are essential to the Bonetts’ success. Warren and Prebble lead by example and are workaholic real estate agents; Warren’s phone is attached to his ear at all times, and his laptop is never out of his sight. And, since higher education is mandatory for their kids, Warren and Prebble have gone as far as to cut the kids out of the will if they don’t attend college.

In the first week of the swap, Grace Linkins leaves behind her life of fantasy and journeys into the real world at the Bonnet home. She is impressed by the care and precision that has been taken to keep the Bonett home immaculate, but is troubled by how much time Warren spends on work and how little time he spends with his family. An exhausted Grace worries that, with so much focus on setting and achieving goals, the Bonnets are missing out on valuable, relaxed family time. Meanwhile in Virginia, energetic Prebble has trouble adjusting to the slow-paced Linkins home. She feels Grace spends too much time on childish role playing in the forest instead of taking care of her home or encouraging her kids to reach their greatest potential in life. Prebble attempts to show George his lax attitude is making his kids go nowhere fast.

In the second week, when the wives change the rules and turn the tables, Grace strives to bring the world of imagination into the Bonnet home. She breaks down after pleading with Warren to turn off his phone, lock up his computer and join his kids in a LARP. The usually structured Bonett family finds it difficult to morph into whimsical characters and join the world of make believe. Meanwhile, Prebble Bonett attempts to bring a dose of reality into the laidback Linkins’ home. To better prepare them for their future, Prebble encourages Randy to go for his dream and try martial arts. and she persuades Casey to get a haircut and go on a real job interview. After two weeks in another home, can Grace Linkins show the uptight, go-getting Bonetts that a little fantasy isn’t going to stop them from being successful? And can Prebble Bonnet motivate the Linkins to leave the world of fantasy behind to achieve real life goals and become successful?

An Anna Nicole Smith Opera is in the works in Britain

The Royal Opera Company of Britain is working on an Anna Nicole Smith opera, which will be based on her life and death.

The show will be written by British composer Mark-Anthony Turnage, and the libretto will be composed by Richard Thomas, who was the co-creator of Jerry Springer: The Opera.  And although I am having trouble wrapping my brain around the idea of an Anna Nicole Smith opera, those involved say that it won’t be as bad as it sounds:

“It is not going to be a horrible, sleazy evening,” Elaine Padmore, Covent Garden’s director of opera said.

“It is not going to be tawdry – it is going to be witty, clever, thoughtful and sad.”

Anna Nicole Smith was a model who is best known for marrying a wealthy man who was 63 years older than her, and later become embroiled in a brutal fight for her inheritance after his death. She later went on to have her own self-titled reality show, The Anna Nicole Smith Show.

Her 20 year old son passed away in her hospital room three days after the birth of her daughter, and tragically she suddenly lost her life months later.

Corey Feldman talks about his Pink Floyd-inspired album

Corey FeldmanFormer teen idol  turned reality star Corey Feldman has been busy in the recording studio since the filming of his reality show, The Two Coreys. The actor and musician, who starred in a reality show with fellow actor and friend, Corey Haim, has been working on a Pink Floyd-inspired album with his band.

Recently he talked candidly about what it was like having members of Pink Floyd working with him on the album, and how he felt about the recent passing of Pink Floyd member, Richard Wright:

How much of a influence have they been on you?

Corey: “Tremendous. Specifically with this style of music. To me they are individually and collectively the most generous group of musicians ever gathered together. Granted The Beatles are still the greatest rock band of all time, but for different reasons. Floyd explored regions of the mind and soul the Beatles wouldn’t dare consider. I know people who are afraid to listen to Pink Floyd. It strikes a nerve like a raw emotion that you don’t expect.”

With the recent death of Rick Wright many Pink Floyd fans across the world were impacted in different ways. I know I was depressed for a solid weak after the loss. How did it impact you and how did you hear about it?

Corey: “Well I think I heard about it the same as everyone else, on the news. I of course called the people I knew that were close to him, and wished my condolences. As far as the impact I was conflicted with true grief for the loss of a man and the effect it had on the people around him, and the selfish sorrow of facing the realisation that there would truly never be a final Pink Floyd reunion. I then decided to tribute the new album to him, and added a dedication a day before final press.”

Rate Paris Hilton’s new song “Jailhouse Baby”

It wasn’t that long ago, when Reality Roll Call was just a baby, that we were posting about Paris Hilton being disinherited by her grandfather, and her impending  jail time for being a proud graduate of the Britney Spears Driving School.

Then she was sentence to jail. And she went to jail kicking and screaming.  Then she was released momentarily, and the judge ordered her back to jail. And she was dragged back to serve her sentence. Kicking and screaming.

And it’s rough times like that which actually separate the heiresses from the lesser sex tape debutantes.  Jail time could have hardened her; it could have broken her. But instead it made her introspective, it gave her time to realize that maybe all the pantiless photo ops were a bad idea. It made her write a song called . And if this song stops one girl from making the same mistakes she’s made, Paris’ suffering will not have been in vain.

What do you think?

Does Jailhouse Baby rock?

  • No. it's not (83%, 5 Votes)
  • It's hot (17%, 1 Votes)

Total Voters: 6
