Rock of Love Star Goes On Tour Despite Broken Nose, Busted Lip
Poison frontman, and VH1 reality show star Brett Michaels has announced that his tour will start on time, despite injuries to his face that he suffered when a piece of the stage came crashing down on him at the Tony Awards. He has posted this press release on his blog:
“Even in light of his recent injuries suffered at the Tony Awards on June 7th Bret has every intention of giving 100% on stage and throwing his legendary after parties for the fans just like he has for the last 20 years,” comments Michaels’s rep Janna Elias. The Tony Award incident has been viewed over 5 million times on YouTube and over 2000 unique news outlets picked up and continue to report on the story.
Michaels recently has had to postpone several dates of his ROCK OF LOVE solo tour due to the extent of the neck injury, however has every intention of going through with the Def Leppard /Poison / Cheap Trick tour which kicks off Tuesday June 23rd at Susquehanna Bank Center in Camden, New Jersey, just outside of Philadelphia. Live Nation was excited that tickets for the tour opened up very strong even in this tough economy. Between the three acts they have sold over 100 million albums worldwide, have had 62 top 40 singles and have sold out arenas around the globe for the last twenty years. Def Leppard, Poison and Cheap Trick fans know they will not only get an incredibly energetic stage show but also a night of nothing but hit songs.
The latest in a long list of career highlights for Michaels is being named as one of People Magazine’s Hottest Bachelors of 2009. “I am really excited about this summer because I have been trying to put a Poison / Def Leppard tour together for over 9 years. Ricki Lake will host the next Charm School with the help of La La Vasquez

Here’s the thing about being the headmistress of VH1’s Charm School: if you are going to teach young women how to behave like a proper lady, or least less skanky, you shouldn’t be known for having a foul mouth, and for sending people gift boxes of feces. Oh, and maybe you shouldn’t beat up the student you expelled for fighting. So, don’t expect to see Sharon Osbourne hosting the reality show any time soon.
That being said, Ricki Lake will be the host of the next season of VH1’s Charm School.
The third installment of 51 Minds and VH1’s “Charm School” is going to a whole new level and showing a side of the girls from “Rock of Love Bus with Bret Michaels” and “Real Chance of Love” you’ve never seen before…the compassionate side. That’s right, these once love struck reality beauties will now learn self-improvement through selfless acts. Legendary talk show host, documentary film producer and author Ricki Lake will try to tame the wild ladies by asking them to do…gasp…charity work, in “Charm School 3 with Ricki Lake,” premiering in Summer 2009.
Ricki will not be alone in her quest to help these ladies; she will be flanked with the support of the new school deans Alani “La La” Vazquez (TV Personality) and Stryker (Radio Host). This teams’ mission for the new season is not only to teach the ladies about which fork to use, but also to stress the importance of using themselves for good.
VH1.com will offer an exclusive sneak peek of the premiere episode prior to the show’s on-air premiere and will house the show’s episodes for on-demand viewing. There will be additional online and mobile elements and content launched throughout the run of the series. Additional details will be announced closer to the premiere of the series this summer.

Rocker and reality show star Bret Michaels has suspended his Rock of Love Bus tour to assist the families of two people who were killed in a crash that was caused by a “Rock” roadie.
Teenagers Yasmin Jackson and Kevetta Davis were fatally injured in a car accident that occured Friday on Interstate 57 in Illinois. The accident was caused when Michaels’ roadie, Dennis Hernendez fell asleep while driving a truck to a Rock of Love shooting location. The truck veered off the road, crossing the median strip and killing the two girls.
Although Hernandez was assisting in the Rock of Love shoot, he was not an actual associate of Bret Michaels or part of his tour staff, according to VH1.
VH1 issues this statement:
A crew member from the 51 Minds Entertainment production of the upcoming ‘Rock Of Love Bus’ series on VH1 was involved in an auto accident on Interstate 57 in southern Illinois on Friday afternoon. The crew member, who is not an associate of Bret Michaels or part of his tour staff, was traveling alone to the next location stop for the series. The accident resulted in two fatalities in one car and injuries to two passengers in another vehicle. The crew member survived and has been released from the hospital. Local authorities continue to investigate.
Bret Michaels has requested that his participation in the production of the series be temporarily suspended in deepest sympathy as he attempts to reach out to the families of the victims. Traveling separately, Mr. Michaels had left Illinois early Friday morning and was not near the scene of the accident.
Michaels, 51 Minds Entertainment and VH1 extend their deepest sympathies to everyone involved in this terrible accident.
“As a father of two, I cannot even imagine what the families must be going through at this time. I will make every attempt to reach out to them to let them know that my heart and prayers are with them during their time of grief,” said Michaels in a statement.

(Press Release)
SANTA MONICA, Calif., July 16 — Rock star Bret Michaels tried twice to find love by filling a mansion with gorgeous women and having them compete for his heart. But after the final pass was handed out and the cameras stopped rolling, Bret’s picks didn’t work out. He and season two winner, Ambre Lake, really tried to make it work and although they still remain close friends, between his tour line-up and her work schedule there’s no time for a relationship.
“Bret has been very upfront and honest about how difficult maintaining a normal relationship may be for a touring rock star. He’s right, it’s absolutely an insane lifestyle and neither of us had the time to make it work,” stated Lake.
Now Bret is taking another stab at finding his perfect match in the ultimate rock and roller’s test … life on the road! “Rock of Love Bus with Bret Michaels” is set to premiere in early 2009.
“Seasons one and two of ‘Rock of Love’ shattered ratings records and VH1 is so happy to have Bret back for another outrageous season. This time we’ll reveal Bret in his most comfortable setting — the infamous rock star tour bus,” said Jeff Olde, VH1’s Executive Vice President, Original Programming and Production.
“We are excited to hit the road for another season of ‘Rock of Love,’” commented Executive Producers Mark Cronin & Cris Abrego. “Nobody knows their way around a tour bus like Bret Michaels, and we are confident that the audience will enjoy the ride.”
How will Bret find a woman to ‘rock his world’ when his world is always moving? VH1 is loading up a tour bus filled with beautiful babes and taking them on tour across the country. “Rock of Love Bus with Bret Michaels” takes contestants out of the mansion and on the road in true rock star style. This season will feature all-new ladies vying for Bret’s affection while traveling across America following Bret on a month-long tour. The contestants will face new challenges to see if they can handle the rock star life on the road.
This time as the bus pulls into each new city, the girls will engage in challenges specifically revolving around Bret’s life on the road. Whether it’s greeting aggressive groupies with a smile, enduring grueling schedules, dodging the advances of the warm-up band or even stepping in last-minute to fill in for delinquent roadies — these girls will be put to the test. This season, as the Rock of Love Bus heads into America’s heartland, the show will be taking the viewer to a whole new level with crazy, fun, over-the-top challenges — imagine Truck Stop Olympics or a dance contest on top of the St. Louis Arch or even a BBQ cook-off beneath the World’s Largest Thermometer. And also, back by popular demand… Mud Bowl 3. Americana at it’s finest!
