I’m going to go out on a limb and bet that Josh Colon of The Real World: DC is going to have a huge female and gay male following this coming season. While in DC, the Philly native performed in a band called Wicked Liquid. Here’s a short clip of them performing  “Snow”:

First Look at the Cast of The Real World: DC

All Real World fans know that once The Real World/Road Rules Challenge ends it’s time to gear up for another season of the strangers who find out what it’s like when they stop being polite and get real.

This weekend The Washington Post did a piece on The Real World: DC cast, who vacated the city October 13th, after spending the summer together and contributing to a better world while working at places like The Human Rights Campaign and Rhino Bar. It sounds like each castmate will had their own separate job while working in DC, something that I can’t remember happening since the show was in its infancy.

Here’s a tour of the house, and a look at the cast:

The Student City Boss Gives You the Behind the Scenes Scoop

Last week there was a lot of girl drama on The Real World: Cancun. Actually, it was one hour of some of the most immature, senseless girl drama that I have ever seen since The Real World began many, many years ago.  And that says a lot.

But if we thought that these girls had totally lost their minds, imagine what their boss must have thought. Christine, the Program Director of Student City has submitted her personal take on last week’s episode:

Cast Mate Who Goes to Rehab During The Real World Goes Back to Rehab on VH1

You may remember the then popular Joey Kovar as the cast mate from The Real World: Hollywood as the likeable weightlifter with the substance abuse problem who went on a drug and alcohol abuse binge, and terrorized his housemates. The last we saw of him, he had cleaned up his act, but he is scheduled for VH1’s Celebrity Rehab 3, along with some other familiar faces:

VH1 has once again partnered with Dr. Drew Pinsky for a third season of the hit reality series Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew. The series, consisting of eight one-hour episodes, is slated to premiere in early 2010.Similar to the first two cycles, the third season of Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew will follow the real-life experiences of celebrity patients undergoing detoxification and treatment at the Pasadena Recovery Center. The show will follow Mackenzie Phillips (One Day At A Time), Heidi Fleiss, Dennis Rodman, Mindy McCready (country music singer), Lisa D’Amato (America’s Next Top Model), Mike Starr (Alice in Chains), Kari Ann Peniche (ex-Miss United States Teen) Joey Kovar (Real World Hollywood), and Tom Sizemore.

The series will chronicle the patients’ intensive 21-day program with both group and one-on-one therapy and non-traditional therapies like art and music. Returning to the show to help Dr. Drew are drug counselor Bob Forrest and resident technician Shelly Sprague who have each spent years on both sides of the rehab fence. Dr. Drew is also bringing in some additional prominent physicians to help him give the patients supplementary one-on-one care.

A Casting Director for The Real World 22 Gives His Advice

October 21, 2008 by Faith W

The Real World 22 is currently casting, and all over the country young adults  are getting their votes on the website, sending in their applications or going to the open calls. Tens of thousands will try to get on, only 7 will have a chance to get drunk and make out in the hot tub. What can you do to get noticed by the casting director of The Real World, that doesn’t involve taking off your clothes and doing something ridiculous? Reality Wanted interviewed Real World 22 casting director Damon Furberg, and here’s what he has to say about making a good casting tape:

There are a lot of things but make sure you spend a couple minutes talking about yourself. Keep it simple but let us know who you are. Don’t go overboard and over produce it, real talent is hard to overlook. Also something to steer away from is rehearsing it too much. Go in knowing 3-4 things about you that make you interesting. At the end of the day we are looking for the right personality for the show, not someone that just has gimmicks. This show has been around for a lot of years so we are not looking for another Puck or a character that has been on in the past. We want to know about you, not how you compare to other characters from past seasons.

He also talks about whether they are partial to people from certain parts of the country (they aren’t), if you should you be discouraged by the amount of other applicants, and whether it is worth your while going to an open casting call. For the record, he feels it is absolutely worth going to open calls, because from his standpoint there is no substitute for meeting someone face-to-face.

RealWorldCasting.Com Is Back!

That’s right kiddies, the beast has returned. For all of you that don’t know, the Real World casting site is a site where you sign up, make a profile, write some blogs, and make some videos in the hopes of impressing/entertaining people so that they vote for you. Its a long grueling and time consuming process, but the end result is that the winner of the competition gets the 7th spot in the Real World house.

The most recent(and only) winner of this competition was the lovable Greg “Pretyboy” Halstead, who became part of the Real World: Hollywood cast. This time the winner will be added to Season 22’s cast, so if you’re one of those people who went to an open call and didn’t get the call back you expected, take sometime and sign up on the casting site to prove the casting directors wrong by making it to the top 50!

I’ll be taking another stab at it as well, so check out my page and hit me up with a vote and let me know you came from here.

Bunim-Murray May Produce Project Runway

June 30, 2008 by Faith W

Project Runway is looking for a new producer, and reality show producer Bunim-Murray is at the top of a short list of prospects.

The fashion reality show, which will be moving from Bravo to Lifetime, has lost their current producer. Magical Elves will not be making the move to Lifetime due to project commitments stemming from a recently signed deal with NBC Universal.

Bunim-Murray, best known as the producers of the MTV reality dinosaur, The Real World, is also the producer of Keeping Up With the Kardashians, the dull Living Lohan, and the rediculously drama-filled Bad Girls Club, and America’s Psychic Challenge (no comment). On a much more commendable note, they also produced the groundbreaking Autism: The Musical for HBO.

I’m getting the feeling that lovers of the old, New York-based Runway should be very, very afraid.
