When you come in second place on Big Brother, you win $50,000. No, it’s not half a million dollars, but it’s nothing to sneeze at, right? So, you would think that Memphis Garrett, runner up in Big Brother 10, would hang on to a memento or two. Maybe he is, but this week he is eBaying his red Renegades bandanna.

The auction says, “Big Brother 10 Memphis Original Signed Renegade Bandanna Memphis wore this bandanna the entire show.” So it smells all Memphis-y, and stuff. Just kidding; I’m sure it was laundered, something I am not sure about when it comes to Dan Gheesling’s now fossilized lucky black and white shorts.

Check out Memphis’ auctions here.

Big Brother 10 Players Fatal Mistakes Part 1

As we reach the end of another wild season of Big Brother, it’s time for me to take on the role of Monday morning quarterback and tell you  where I think each player blew their chance at a half a million dollars. It’s time for Player’s Fatal Mistakes.

Now, I know that I haven’t been a fan of Dan’s game play, and I am really struggling to see anything Memphis had done this season in the way of active strategizing (making deals with everyone doesn’t require much thought). But at the end of the game,  you have to admit that at least one of the two people played the game well. So, I give Dan all due respect. I think the biggest issue that I have from an entertainment standpoint, was that The Renegades weren’t as cool or as awesome as their name would lead you to believe.  Let’s move on:

Brian: Usually the first person to go is kind of a sacrificial lamb: no one knows anyone yet, but someone has to go. This isn’t the case with Brian. Brian seemed poised to be the actual star of the season, and teamed up with Dan, he would have actually made The Renegades and team to remember. Brian had charisma and was charming, in a salesman kind of way, with the potential to be persuasive, and he had the spark in his diary room sessions that you usually only see in good players. His mistake? He played too hard, too fast. He made a deal with everyone in the house. How smart is it to make a deal with everyone, when you don’t have a feel for anyone’s personality yet? Would have liked to see him make to All Stars, but it’s unlikely since he shot himself in the foot strategically as soon as he set foot in the house.

Angie: She was the exact opposite of Brian, in that she was way too laid back, especially when it came time to save herself. Her argument when saying a few last words to save herself before voting was excellent. Saying that in the end there could only be one winner of Big Brother, and that each player had to actually play the game for themselves when they cast their vote was great. The problem was that the time to say it was when she should have been campaigning to stay, not right before she was ready to go. She didn’t give anyone a reason to keep her around, but she gave a speech that was so good that other houseguests used it as well, also at the wrong time.

Steven: He was a nice guy, and everyone liked him. His problem was that he befriended Brian, which made him look bad, and he hung out with Angie. The time to hang out with folks, is not when their demise is imminent. It kind of makes you a loser by association.

Jessie: Jessie was a guy who could have stayed in the game a lot longer. His mistake was that he didn’t know when to shut up. His weird view of “respect” and his youthful arrogance made him a victim of his own ego, and the America’s Player vote.

Libra: A victim of the revenge eviction for putting Jessie on the block for purely personal reasons, she also had the fatal flaw of not knowing when to keep her mouth shut. She actually was one of the first people to actually demonstratively play the game, but she was aligned with people who brought their personal issues into game play, which enhanced out the abrasiveness of her personality.

April: There was a lot wrong with April’s game, aside from the fact that she spent way too much time making YouTube sex tapes with Ollie. She thought of herself as being a great player and a threat, because she won the endurance competition. Put in its proper perspective, that competition was, in fact, the easiest for her to win. Furthermore, winning a couple of comps doesn’t make you a great player; there are more factors involved than that. Her tendency to polarize her every view in the game, and to isolate herself, made her seem like she wasn’t exactly a team player much of the time.

Part 2 of Players Fatal Mistakes will be up on Tuesday. In the meantime, I’d like to know you opinions, so leave a comment.
