LOS ANGELES, July 10 — The hard-charging, hard-partying, carbon-laden world of tour bus-living musicians doesn’t exactly scream green! Now, Planet Green challenges two icons to join the newest trend in music; ‘going green.’ BATTLEGROUND EARTH: LUDACRIS vs. TOMMY LEE challenges hip hop superstar Chris “Ludacris” Bridges and rock god Tommy Lee to battle against the toxic forces destroying Mother Earth as they travel across the country on a 10-episode tour. The series premiere is August 3, 2008 at 10 p.m. ET.
Viewers witness the two stars pushed to the limit as they attempt to keep their high-wattage acts on an eco-friendly course. Enlisting the help of their posses, aka “ecorages,” Ludacris taps Willie Box, Sesean Bridges, and Tony “4 Ize” Hayes III while Tommy Lee relies on Diggity Dave, Johnny Colt, and Nina Bergman to help him get to the finish line. In case the ecorages don’t add enough to the competition, Ludacris and Tommy have plenty of celebrity guests to turn to including Jane Fonda, Sean Combs, Pamela Anderson, Gene Simmons, and anyone else willing to lend a hand. Ludacris and Tommy Lee dive right into the BATTLEGROUND EARTH competition with unexpected and sometimes hilarious results.
In the “Fast Fuel” episode Ludacris and Tommy Lee’s bio-diesel tour buses are running on empty in the middle of the Texas Panhandle. They must roll into a fast food restaurant and look for fast food grease to turn into eco-friendly fuel. In another episode the duo shows up in Las Vegas to set the Guinness World Record for taking the “Largest Shower.”
Throughout the tour they battle to get the word out about the state of the environment. This Rap n’ Roll battle culminates in a green carpet benefit concert at LA’s legendary Greek Theater. The concert featuring Luda, Tommy Lee and many of their famous musician friends raised more than $33,000, including a donation from Treeland, benefiting the renewal of Griffith Park, which was devastated by recent wildfires.
BATTLEGROUND EARTH is not about winning the race but ultimately raising awareness about the environment. Spots called “Pass it On” featuring an eclectic group of celebrities including Magic Johnson, Wayne Brady, Travis Tritt, and Criss Angel, among others, offer eco tips to viewers and are featured throughout the 10-episodes.
The talent featured in BATTLEGROUND EARTH have made plenty of headlines for their antics on and off the stage. Christopher Brian Bridges, also known by his rap alias Ludacris, is the CEO of Disturbing tha Peace, an imprint distributed by Def Jam Recordings. His breakout roles in Hustle and Flow and the Academy Award winning film Crash have led to starring roles in the upcoming ROCKNROLLA and Max Payne. He has sold over 15 million records in the U.S. alone and is tied for the title of hip hop artist with the second most Billboard Hot 100 number one hits. His eagerly awaited upcoming album, Theatre of the Mind, drops this winter and his newest restaurant, Straits Atlanta, opened this spring.
Tommy Lee is best known as the drummer for the wildly popular heavy metal band Motley Crue. Motley Crue has sold 45 million albums (25 million in the US alone) over their 25-year career. After leaving Motley Crue, Lee founded Methods of Mayhem and embarked on solo work including guest appearances on other artists’ albums such as Nine Inch Nails and Rob Zombie.
Lee also launched a clothing line with People’s Liberation that was inspired by his tattoos. Currently, Tommy is touring with partner DJ Aero as part of one of the world’s premier DJ teams.

Every couple of weeks since last summer, there have been reports that Pamela Anderson was going to do a reality show. The story would spread all over the internet, and then Pam would release a statement, denying the whole thing.
Well, apparently we can all write about it in confidence, because it has finally been confirmed. E! online reports that the Baywatch babe is doing a reality show for their network.
The show, which will air this summer, will be done documentary style, and as with most celebrity reality shows, it will focus on her life. However, you will not see Tommy Lee or the kids. So, we’ll get to know who Pam really is, and we will understand that she is more than a set of huge boobs that likes frequent, short-lived marriages. Anderson did write a column for Jane Magazine for a while in the early part of this decade, so she does think about stuff, and is capable of writing about it, too.

Motley Crue rocker TOMMY LEE was reluctant to star in an environmentally-friendly reality TV show – but was persuaded by his children. The 45-year-old star – who has sons Brandon and Dylan with Pamela Anderson is not a fan of reality TV, but agreed to take part in upcoming U.S. programme Battleground Earth because he fears for the future of his children.
He explains, “I was definitely not down to do another reality show because we have too many of those and they’re stupid.
“But I’m doing this for my kids. Environmentalism is a serious sort of subject but you’ve got to make it fun or you freak people out.” The 10-episode Discovery Network show, which premieres in August (08), also features rapper Ludacris.
